SFWMD Land Assessment

ALERT!   SFWMD Evaluating 100,000 acres of Conservation Land for Surplus in St. Lucie, Martin, Palm Beach Counties

***  Our public lands are being considered for surplus sale. ***
***  If they are no longer public land, they could be developed. ***
The South Florida Water Management District is evaluating conservation and water management lands in St. Lucie, Martin, and Palm Beach Counties for possible surplus designation and sale to private parties. Included are the ecologically important Atlantic Ridge, Pal-Mar and DuPuis tracts, and significant parcels protecting the Loxahatchee River.  Inclusion on this list does not necessarily mean these conservation tracts will be proposed for surplus; however the process underway at the Water Management District requires that the public become engaged, and provide comments to the district favoring the retention of these lands in the district’s inventory.

Deadline for Comments April 22
The lands being evaluated in this group of tracts are vital to fulfilling the core mission of the district, including Flood Control, Water Quality protection/improvements, Water Supply, Natural Resource protection and restoration. Comments are due no later than April 22, and must be submitted on the forms on the district’s Web Site.  Click here to submit your comment.
Public Meeting April 19th
The District is holding a public meeting to accept comment on these tracts of land on April 19, 2013, 10 AM to 12 PM SFWMD Headquarters – B-1 Auditorium, 3301 Gun Club Road,West Palm Beach, Florida 33406.
